Our administrative office and technical gear reserve are situated in the high alpine resort village of Orcières Merlette 1850 in the Haut-Champsaur valley, approximately 38 kilometers northeast of Gap, the prefecture capital of the Hautes-Alpes department.

Public & Regional Transit:

From Gap SNCF railway station, regular regional bus shuttles (ZOU! line 533) connect directly to Orcières Merlette station throughout the summer and winter seasons. During shoulder seasons, community carpool initiatives are coordinated through our volunteer secretariat.

By Road:

Follow the Route Nationale N85 from Gap toward Grenoble, branch onto Route Départementale D944 at Pont-du-Fossé into the Haut-Champsaur valley, and continue along the scenic ascent through Orcières Village to Merlette 1850. Ample public parking is available adjacent to the station center.

Frequently Asked Questions for Parents & Participants

Common inquiries regarding enrollment eligibility, safety oversight, gear provisioning, and administrative requirements.

Who is eligible to participate in the flight programs?

Our youth programs primarily welcome young people aged 12 to 20 residing in the Haut-Champsaur valley and broader Hautes-Alpes territory. Prior aeronautical experience is never required; our progressive curriculum begins with comprehensive ground handling on gentle slopes.

What are the costs for participating youth?

As a non-profit association funded through public subsidies, institutional grants, and educational partnerships, all training clinics and camp activities are fully subsidized. Complete flight gear (gliders, harnesses, helmets, radios) is loaned free of charge through our public equipment reserve.

What administrative documents are necessary?

For minors, parents or legal guardians must complete a parental authorization form, provide a medical certificate of non-contraindication to free-flight sports, and subscribe to standard non-profit federation civil liability insurance (supported through subsidized youth vouchers).

How are weather contingencies managed?

Mountain safety always takes absolute precedence. If aerological forecasts indicate excessive valley winds, precipitation, or storm activity, outdoor flights are postponed. The cohort transitions seamlessly to indoor aerology workshops, topographic map reading, or simulator instruction at our headquarters.
